ABOUT
The REU Site in Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chain (AMSC) at the University of Louisville provides a 10-week summer experiential training where students work closely with faculty mentors and graduate students on cutting-edge research projects that are motivated from real world problems. The AMSC REU students also participate in professional development opportunities such as workshops, training sessions, research presentations, and plant tours.
The Project-Skills Matrix (PSM) is a tool used by the AMSC REU program to assign students to projects. A free PSM template is available for use. The AMSC program uses a customized internal version that includes student-specific information and is therefore maintained privately.

It's a ten-week research experience program runs from fourth week of May to last week of July/first week of August

Who can apply to the AMSC REU?
Application is open to all community college students and sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduates in AMSC related fields (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Materials, Plastics, Manufacturing Engineering) as well as other STEM fields (e.g., Math, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Computer Science).
What are the eligibility requirements?
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have a desire to participate in research with at least one semester remaining.
Is the program paid? Are there any other additional benefits?
The program will provide financial support of $6,000 for the 10-week period.
Travel expenses & food allowance up to $800
Free on campus housing.
Are there professional development opportunities?
Yes. Students participate in weekly workshops/seminars include presenting research, graduate school preparation, academic and industry career pathways, and career readiness skills (leadership, communication, teamwork).
Yes, REU students will participate in couple of industry tours/visits to Nucor Tubular Products, The Slugger Factory
Outdoor activities such as canoe trip and other local places
Will there be recognition for participation?
Yes. Students who successfully complete the program receive a Certificate of Participation in the NSF REU program, signed by the Program Director and Program Manager.
